What It's All About

The Community Spelling Bee is Achieve Hartford!’s annual fundraising event is and one of most anticipated and unique events in Hartford. Each year, the Bee brings the community together in the city. The Bee is held at Theatre of the Performing Arts, The Learning Corridor in Hartford. This community event has grown in popularity since it began in 2006 with 160 participants and had 300 supporters in 2012.

Bee attendees represent friends of Achieve Hartford! from a wide spectrum: students, parents, educators, policy makers, community and business leaders, and supporters to celebrate a fun educational experience for everyone.

The Bee is a fun  evening where a true sense of community fills the room. With a VIP reception, an adult and student spelling bee competition, entertainment and many surprises, the Bee allows you to support Achieve Hartford! in a new way.

Proceeds from the event help support our focus of building a college going culture among schools, communities, and families throughout the city. The dollars raised will also fund various programs to help us address our community’s educational needs.

Your participation will offer you a unique way to experience Achieve Hartford!’s community work, while helping to  advance our mission: Through independent research, evaluation, and engaging the community, Achieve Hartford! creates urgency and shared responsibility for closing the achievement gap in Hartford.

Contributions to events are tax deductible (excluding goods and services provided) and all proceeds benefit Achieve Hartford!
