closes a prison."

Achieve Hartford! currently runs five programs, each targeting an aspect of education reform that must be supported by the business and civic community. Click on their names above for more information:
SmartChoices: This interactive online tool is the first of its kind in the nation, providing parents with information on school performance, demographics and distance from their home so that they may make an informed decision about the best school for their child.
Parent Support: Achieve Hartford! views families as the most important stakeholders of education in Hartford. As governance of our district and city change from term to term, the families remain supporting their children and preparing them for the future. There are two parent programs run by Achieve Hartford! and its partners.
College Readiness: Through collaborations with both community based organizations and the District, Achieve Hartford! is developing an innovative college and career readiness program that addresses three essential components of effective college readiness.
Teacher Support: Achieve Hartford! cultivates higher levels of literacy through elementary schools in Hartford! by supporting a grant program for teacher innovations in literacy curriculum, focused on the 4th and 5th grades.
School Uniforms: By acting as the fiscal agent for the school uniforms program, Achieve Hartford! is facilitating the purchase of school uniforms by parents in schools throughout Hartford. These uniforms help create a culture of professionalism and academic focus in schools and engender a sense of pride in students attending a unique, high quality school.
