College Readiness

Achieve Hartford! has a comprehensive definition for college readiness:  We believe College Readiness is defined as attaining the following four capacities before graduation in order to have the option to pursue any education or career path post high school:

(1) the academic base needed to enter college without remediation;
(2) the capacity to navigate the application process for any post-secondary institution;
(3) demonstrate a familiarity and comfort with the systems and languages of post-secondary institutions ("college knowledge"); and
(4) the self-efficacy and social adeptness required to overcome obstacles encountered along the way.

Achieve Hartford! looks to help fill in the gaps of the college readiness efforts that are already supporting students in Hartford.  We are developing a plan is to work closely with the District and other community based organizations to provide students in Hartford the support they need to be successful in their post-secondary lives.
